What does commissioning an artist mean?
To commission an artist is to hire him/her to paint a painting especially for you and according to your preferences, e.g. a size that will fit well above a bed, colours that will match your decor and content that will suit your style.

Will my painting look exactly like the photo?
Yes and no. Festa is very talented and can paint almost anything you imagine photo-realistically but as a renowned artist, she has a unique style of painting which sets her apart from everyone else. E.g. her strong yet smooth skies, detailed grass, exaggerated lighting, etc. It is this style that will make your painting a Festa original and increase its investment value.

How long will it take before the painting is finished?
After you have communicated your preferences to Festa, she will send you prepared, cropped and recoloured photos to choose from, whereafter further modifications can be made. This period's length is greatly determined by the frequency that you check your email. Your canvas will then be manufactured and ready within 7 working days. Festa's creative process is as follows: Prepare wooden canvas, plot out the image, apply oil paint layer 1, let it dry for 4-5 days, apply layer 2, dry once again etc. Paintings might contain 3-7 layers depending on the size and detail.

Do I have to frame the painting?
Festa works on wooden boards with a depth of 2-4cm instead of canvas. The wood lends a richer, more detailed feel to the painting and makes it possible to hang the painting on a wall without being framed as Festa's finishing of the edges is flawless.

How do I pay?
An EFT tranfer or cash is accepted.
Regarding commissions: A 50% deposit is payable when Festa starts the painting and is non-refundable. The remaining amount is payable when the painting is complete but is refundable should you decide not to take it. For this second 50% - Option 2, as seen below, is also available to you.
Regarding the sale of an existing painting in Festa's gallery: Option 1 - The full amount is payable on delivery. Option 2 - The amount can be divided into equal monthly payments over a period of 2-6 months whereafter the painting will be released.

How will my painting be delivered?
Within Pretoria, packaging and delivery is free of charge.
In other regions of South Africa, packaging is free but a reliable, affordable courier company will be used, at the buyer's expense for a minimal fee of R150-R350.
Regarding international shipping, the same courier company will be used unless the buyer would like to compare rates first. Packaging (price determined by size and weight) and shipment is at the buyer's expense

Why is it better to buy/order a painting directly from the artist?
When buying art directly from the artist, you will not be paying for the services rendered by an art gallery which, in most cases, would have cost you double. E.g. a painting for sale by the artist costing R8000 would cost you around R17000 if bought through a gallery.
The good news is that the market price (e.g. R17000) is the investment value to the buyer - should you want to resell it personally in the future after the value has risen even more.
